WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Our specialist oral surgeon can you help you to stop feeling anxious about missing teeth.

Perhaps you avoid social situations or you hate posing for photographs. Implants treatment can change people’s lives.

We will place a titanium implant underneath your gum. This will act as a root to support a perfect, brand new tooth – a dental crown individually engineered to perfectly blend in with your existing smile. DENTAL IMPLANTS TREATMENT JOURNEY

A typical journey to a new smile

Preparation

Before surgery begins, we will take x-rays and scans of your mouth so we can create the perfect treatment plan.

Week 1
Insert the implant

We will give you a local anaesthetic before carefully inserting the titanium implants into the jaw bone. We will sew the gums above the site of the implant. In some cases, we can perform minimally-invasive microsurgery so stitches are not necessary.

Week 2
Remove stitches

In cases where stitches are required, we will remove them about a week later. The area is usually left to heal for at least three months before it can support the replacement dental crown.

Month 3 - 6
Abutment and impressions

We start to prepare the implant for the final crown. We begin by ensuring the bone and the implant are bonding together effectively. Then we place the abutment – the small piece that will connect the implant to the dental crown. Afterwards, we will take impressions of the mouth and send them to a dental technician. The technician will craft a ceramic crown to perfectly match the colour, shape and size of your existing tooth. (Please note: It is sometimes possible to place a crown at the same time as the implants.)

End of treatment
Your new smile

We place your beautiful tooth. It is a special day for both patient and dentist. We look forward to seeing you for follow-up appointments and hearing about all the positive changes to your lifestyle. (Please note: Treatment times and specifics vary from patient to patient. This guide is for illustration purposes only. )

Frequently Asked Questions

Question iconIs dental implants treatment painful?

Arrow

We perform these procedures with local anaesthetic so you should not feel any pain. Dental implants patients feel some discomfort in the days after treatment.

Question iconHow long will my implants last?

Arrow
Answer icon

Dental implants can last for years of you have a healthy, strong jawbone and if you take care of implants and crowns.

Question iconCould there be any complications with this treatment?
